10 Used Car Bargains for Autumn
The best deals on Used Cars this time of the year...
10. Peugeot 3008
When looking around the used car market we’d always suggest considering cars which are due to be replaced by new models. Dealers know that the model will be outdated soon enough and price them accordingly. For example, the Peugeot 3008. There’s a new model coming out in the next few months which will be more of an SUV than a people carrier. Deals are available now and the prices have already come down significantly on the current model. Get yourself into one now from as little as £4,988 and benefit from endless practicality, frugal engines and plenty of space for the kids.
9. Mazda MX-5
You will have already seen there’s a new MX-5 out roadster-ing across the roads of the UK, and the worlds most popular sports car has always been affordable on the used car market due to the exceptional reliability records and the fantastic deals available. The Autumn and Winter months are typically the best time to buy convertible cars due to the weather, perhaps it is time you landed your own at a cut-price? The third generation models are now sitting at around £5,000 and the ‘smiles-per-gallon’ offered by these little roadsters is hard to beat.
8. Bentley Continental
Depreciation is only a bad thing if it only happens to you while you are in-ownership. If not, it can be a real blessing. This is true particularly if you’ve always admired the craftsmanship and prestige of a car such as the Continental, but never had over £100,000 to pour into your car. Now you can pick up used Continentals from as low as the £24,990 mark and everything is still there… The bespoke interior, the overwhelming technology and the exclusive looks are just as present as the day the car rolled out of the factory, the only thing missing is the rest of the price tag! Running costs will be high, undoubtedly, but considering a brand new BMW 1 Series can cost upwards of £30,000 brand new - the Continental is not a bad call...
7. BMW X1
BMW have continued to put more and more emphasis on their X-range of cars, which boast a higher ride height, better ground clearance and (often but not always) their X-drive all wheel drive system. The most affordable entrant into this range is their X1 - based loosely on the 1 series hatchback, with a similarly simplistic and attractive interior but far more capable when the conditions get tough. A lot of people tend to be afraid of buying rear-wheel-drive cars for when the snow comes down which undoubtedly puts a number of BMWs potential buyers off. Instead, take a look at their X range and, in particular the X1 which starts from around £7,995 in our used car section.
6. Aston Martin DB9
Arguably the coolest car on the list is the DB9 from none other than Aston Martin. This is a very cool car, and with a 5.9litre V12 engine it is no slouch either. If you want to release your inner James Bond then now is a great time to take the plunge into the used supercar market with the car pictured sitting at just £34,980 with only 1 previous owner! The DB9 was hailed as one of the greatest Grand Tourers ever built and the sleek aesthetics make this a truly classy purchase. Why are they so affordable? Well, while the price of purchase might have dropped significantly, servicing costs are fixed and do not depreciate. So this would only be a wise purchase if your income can keep up with the running costs!
5. BMW Z4
Another car which sees a slump in value in the Autumn and winter months is the BMW Z4 and this year more than any other so far. BMW secretly stopped producing their Z4 earlier this year without really telling anyone, or releasing a final edition or M-powered option, which is a shame really as they’re some good looking things. (I’m biased, I own one.) What I can tell you first hand is that these are properly good fun to drive and own, especially when the sun comes out. Now, you can get the older and newer generations on the used car market with under 50k miles from £5,326. That’s a bargain for what is a well engineered piece of kit, certainly capable of comfortably managing the morning commute, relatively...
4. Range Rover Sport
If the weather gets tough where you live over the winter months then perhaps it is time to look at a capable all-terrain 4x4 like the Range Rover Sport? There’s never been a better time to buy one on the Used Market as the new model has depreciated the old models significantly. This means you can pick up a luxurious Sport from as low as £11,990 in our Used Car Section. One thing you can be sure of is that if it’s a rough winter, you’ll have no problem getting to the office on time - it’s up to you whether that’s a good or bad thing!
3. Nissan Qashqai
It was the Qashqai that started this crossover-craze that has swept the nation. Back in 2007 Nissan offered the first Qashqai to the market to attract buyers who’d typically opt for a large hatchback. With the Qashqai you get a comfortable ride height, better outward visibility and a solid reliability record too. Because they’ve been out a little while and there is a facelifted model available, there is a used example to suit most budgets, from an early 09 model coming in at just £5,995!
2. Jaguar XE
Jaguar entered the compact saloon market back in 2015 with their XE, rivalling premium competitors like the BMW 3 series, Audi A4, and Mercedes C Class. The XE went down a storm upon introduction thanks to generous equipment levels, exceptional steering and a modest but classy exterior. Now that the XE has been out for a short while there are real bargains to be had in the used car market. For example; a 2.0 diesel Prestige (which would start from £31,275 brand new) can be yours for just over £22,000. That’s based on a 1 year old car with around 11,200 miles on the clock… not bad!
1. Jaguar F Type
Remember earlier when we mentioned that these next few months are the best time to buy next summers convertible? That is most true with the F Type from Jaguar. Now the F Type has been out for two years, but it’s been a huge success around the globe due to the exceptional aesthetics, raucous exhaust note and lively performance figures. Right now though you can get yourself in the beefy 3.0 V6 model for a fraction of what it would have cost you buying brand new. There is a ‘13 plate in our used Car section for just £39,990 with 20,600 miles on it.
