Hyundai i20 1.1 CRDi Blue - KIND OF GREEN

Design and Build
The i20 Blue gets all the latest styling tweaks applied to the revised version of this model. Hence an attractive exterior makeover that features smarter wheel designs plus a hexagonal front grille in keeping with Hyundai's current fluidic sculpture design. Further design changes to the front end include sleeker rounded front wings, while the reshaped bonnet and headlights continue the theme along with neat fog light clusters and daytime running lights. Moving to the rear, this improved i20 gets a redesigned rear bumper and taillights. There are minor changes inside too, with extra soft-touch plastics, a revised and classier centre console and updated seat trims. A decent driving position is easily attained thanks to a height-adjustable driver's seat and a steering column that adjusts for both rake (up and down) and reach (in and out). Space in the back is generous enough to lever in a couple of adults if only for shorter journeys. It's fine for the school run and the 295-litre boot can accommodate the weekly shop of all but the biggest families. Flip down the 60:40 split rear seats and you'll find a flat load floor that can make the i20 surprisingly handy when it comes to the IKEA run. There's also plenty of thought that has gone into making the cabin easy to live with, with a genuinely useful glovebox and a good quota of cubbies and pockets.Market and Model
Hyundai will ask just under £12,000 of you in order to see your name on the registration document of a new i20 Blue which looks extremely competitive. The Blue is based on the i20's Classic trim level so it gets a decent sweep at the equipment list, though is lacking that model's air conditioning. You can though, expect to find electric front windows, a height and reach adjustable steering column, remote central locking, USB & Aux connections, a decent radio/CD and 4 speakers, the ESP Electronic Stability Programme, 6 airbags, Vehicle Stability Management, a trip computer and one touch indicators
