Car scrappage plan in chaos on first day

Government blunder with paperwork

Thousands of customers that have taken up the discount scrappage offer have been warned they may not receive their discounted cars today.

Vince Mann director of Hendy Group of car dealerships which includes Ford, Honda, Kia and Mazda said “it’s a fiasco, a complete Government cock-up. They haven’t sorted out the paperwork to allow us to release the cars to customers.”

Car dealerships have still not received details on how to register the cars, administrative details and with whom to scrap the cars. It has been reported that emergency meetings have taken place between car makers and officials to resolve the issue. The government issued guidance last week on how the scheme would run but carmakers were unhappy with some key points and had serious questions about VAT.

Why does this come as a shock to the system, this shower have been a cock up since 1997, what else did you expect.

I HAVE CHECKED MY CAR'S DETAILS WITH YOU SEVERAL TIMES AND HAVE BEEN TOLD IT IS ACCEPTABLE.I DID ANSWER THAT IT WAS ON SORN BUT HAS NOT GOT A VALID MOT. DELEARS SAY IT DOES NOT COMPLY. WHAT ARE THE RULES?
