F1 Bahrain GP Race Preview

After three rounds of the Formula 1 World Championship, it’s Lewis Hamilton leading the way on 45 points with Jenson Button and Fernando Alonso closely behind.

With the teams heading straight to Bahrain from China, a few drivers will be able to get their championship challenges underway.

Sebastian Vettel hasn’t had an easy start to the season and languishes in 5th place, a position I don’t think even he expected to be in. Finishing in 5th in China, behind his team mate Mark Webber will not have made him happy, so he will look to turn around his fortunes at the Sakhir circuit.

A triple winner at the circuit in the desert is Fernando Alonso and he will hope he can take another top spot, the last driver to do so in 2010. With only one point so far, Michael Schumacher, who won the first ever Bahrain Grand Prix, will look to repeat this and get some solid points under his belt.

The race hasn’t been without controversy and with it only a week away, there is still much speculation as to whether it will actually take place. The 2011 race was cancelled due to protests in the country. And with growing unrest over the race, many are wondering if it’s a safe place for drivers and teams to be heading. Bernie Ecclestone has repeatedly said racing will take place, but this will be confirmed when we see the drivers lined up on the grid on 22nd April.
