F1 Canadian GP Practice 1

Practice 1 for the Canadian grand prix started with two high profile casualities.

Practice 1 for the Canadian grand prix started with two high profile casualities. Lewis Hamilton and Sebastian Vettel had to have their cars taken apart by their respective mechanics, with Vettel suffering from brake issues and Hamilton suffering from a broken steering wheel display.

Fernando Alonso set the early pace, only for Hamilton to go faster before his display problems. Felipe Massa than set the fastest lap after Hamilton went into the pits to have his car looked at after losing his steering wheel display. Sebastian Vettel went out after having his brakes fixed, and after completing a couple of laps, ended up going too fast into the last chicane and adding his name to the ‘Wall of Champions’. Vettel’s car suffered heavy damage to the front wing and right front suspension.

Lewis Hamilton went back out without his steering wheel display for the last half hour of the session. Fernando Alonso and Felipe Massa put in strong performances in the session, along with both Mercedes GP drivers, Michael Schumacher and Nico Rosberg. Nico Rosberg went fastest at the end of the session, followed by Fernando Alonso, Michael Schumacher and Felipe Massa. McLaren drivers Jenson Button and Lewis Hamilton went fifth and sixth fastest respectively. Mark Webber was twelfth fastest.
