Lewis Hamilton scored McLaren’s first victory of the 2011 F1 season in Shanghai, China. The British driver drove excellently all race, after a great start which seen both McLaren drivers, Jenson Button and Lewis Hamilton overtake Red Bull’s Sebastian Vettel before the first corner after he started on pole position.

Red Bull’s Mark Webber drove a outstanding race finishing 3rd, after starting from 18th on the grid, due to a disastrous qualifying session on Saturday. The Australian over took Jenson Button on the penultimate lap of the race to finish on the podium behind Hamilton and Vettel.

“It was one of the best races I have experienced,” Hamilton said. “It feels amazing to be able to bring it home. I am absolutely overwhelmed. It feels like a long, long time (since winning). I am so proud and extremely grateful.”

McLaren’s Jenson Button finished 4th, ahead of Mercedes’ Nico Rosberg and Ferrari driver Felipe Massa, all three drivers had led the race from various points at the Shanghai International Circuit. Fernando Alonso of Ferrari finished in 7th ahead of Mercedes’ driver and seven time world champion Michael Schumacher and Renault driver Vitaly Petrov with Sauber driver Kamui Kobayashi finishing 10th and taking the last of the points.

The Drivers World Championship now looks like this; Vettel has 68 points from Hamilton's 47, with Button third on 38 from Webber's 37, Alonso's 26 and Massa's 24. Red Bull still lead the constructors' championship, with 105 points to McLaren's 85, Ferrari's 50 and Renault's 32.
