Fiat's new TwinAir scoops an award

Fiat's new TwinAir has been awarded 'Engine of the Year' in the 2010 Top Gear Awards

Fiat's new TwinAir has only been available since October, and already the innovative two cylinder engine which currently powers Fiat's popular Fiat 500 city car has been awarded ‘Engine of the Year in the 2010 Top Gear Awards.

Compared with Fiat’s best-selling 1.2-litre petrol engine in the Fiat 500, the TwinAir delivers 23 per cent more power yet combines this with a 15 per cent reduction in CO2 emissions and fuel consumption.

Marketing Director for Fiat Group Automobiles UK and Ireland Elena Bernardelli said “we were confident when we launched the TwinAir engine that our customers would like the combination of power, low emissions and fun to drive. So it’s an added pleasure when experts from the motoring media also give us such high praise. I am sure that TwinAir will secure many more honours in the future.”

The new Fiat 500 TwinAir range starts at £10,665 (OTR) for the Fiat TwinAir Pop and rises to £16,065 (OTR) for the convertible Fiat 500C TwinAir byDIESEL.
