Cost concious car buyers could save a small fortune by investing in one of the great value nearly new offers listed in Motoring.co.uk's database. To find these barely out the box vehicles simply click 'cars for sale' on the homepage and select the 'new cars' tab. Continue by choosing your favourite manufacture then ensure the 'include nearly new offers' box is selected. The listings then highlight the relevant vehicles with a 'nearly new' green star.

Many virtually new vehicles have depreciated considerably since their original sale, registration as a demonstrator, or tactical registration to reach sales targets. For example, the database lists nearly new Ford Mondeo models from £11,495. These originally had a list price of around £19,000, and a realistic actual sale price of around £15,500.

Motorists who find the Mondeo too large may prefer the pint-sized Vauxhall Corsa. Nearly new examples of this popular supermini are listed in the database from £7,999 – down from a realistic original sale price of around £10,500. The database also reveals that a nearly new Seat Altea can be fantastic value for money. This Spanish run-around is available from £13,000 which is a saving of around £5,000 on the list price. The fashionable BMW 1 Series also becomes more affordable when bought a few months old. Various examples are available from £17,000 whereas these originally had a realistic sale price of around £20,000.
