Hotel Caruso is an Amalfi Coast Classic

The New Year brings us to thinking about holidays and maybe doing something a little different and pushing the boat out for that dream hotel stay.
Well back in September motoring.co.uk decided to do a little drive of the Amalfi Coast while trying to find that kind of Hotel that simply takes your breath away and guess what.....we found it!
The Hotel Caruso is a former 11th century palace and is perched high above the Amalfi Coast overlooking the Gulf of Salerno, it sits in the delightful hill town of Ravello amongst beautiful historic buildings and looks like it floats between the sky and the sea.
The Hotel Caruso dates back to the 1800’s and has been beautifully restored. The views are quite breathtaking especially when lunching by the fantastic infinity pool which is without doubt the most amazing pool we have ever seen. The pool bar serves tempting Italian dishes together with the Caruso’s famous pizza that melts in the mouth made in the wood fired oven. The staff are some of the most amazing and charismatic people you will ever come across in any hotel around the world.
The interior of the Hotel Caruso has been inspired by the hotels location which is extremely historic and consists of roman mosaics and historic Italian artefacts and you can walk around the hotel and gardens and simply get lost in time. The gardens are stunning with views to match and no matter where you sit the views get better every time.
The Caruso sits in the heart of the village of Ravello and with its ancient streets and main square it makes for a truly magical location, shops and restaurants are all in the main square or just off it and the fun is just walking around and stumbling upon them all. But if you want a dining experience you will never forget then The Belvedere Restaurant within the Hotel Caruso is an absolute must, food is incredible and again the views are magical but the service from the staff is unique, warm and humorous and especially from the manager Giovanni who for me could be a Hollywood movie star.
And talking of celebrities Mark Zuckerberg the founder of Facebook spent his honeymoon at The Hotel Caruso and Steve Jobs founder of Apple was photographed in the main square of Ravello while being on a family holiday a couple of years before he died. But it's not a place to be seen, it is a place you must see because it will never leave you.
The Amalfi coast is a wonderful place to drive and stay and the scenery is breathtaking and motoring.co.uk was lucky enough to do both and we thank http://www.sprintage.it/ for a truly unforgettable drive in our classic Alfa Romeo while dreaming of returning to http://www.hotelcaruso.com/web/orav/hotel_caruso_ravello.jsp sometime soon.
