The Jaguar F-TYPE is sharpening its teeth and polishing its claws. Why? In preparation
for its production form début at the Paris Motor Show on September 27th 2012. And what
a sight it promises to be. Even in pre-production camouflage guise – as seen at the 2012
Goodwood Festival of Speed – this two-seater sports car looks tremendous. The sharp
profile, aggressive stance, and pointy nose ensure that. This big cat is clearly hungry and
wants to take a bite from its competition. Perhaps its rivals should run like a terrified zebra.
Adrian Hallmark, Global Brand Director for Jaguar Cars, revealed: “The unveiling of
the F-TYPE in Paris will be a truly significant day in Jaguar’s history as it will mark the
company’s return to the sports car market - a market it originally helped to create.” Mr
Hallmark continued: “As its sporting forebears did in their era, the F-TYPE will break new
ground by delivering stunning sports car performance while vividly demonstrating Jaguar’s
cutting-edge engineering technologies and world-class design excellence.”
The Jaguar F-TYPE – like most big cats – is a private creature so it guards its technical
specification like a lump of prized meat. However, peeping into its layer has revealed a
few secrets. This beast will launch as a curvy convertible with three zebra chasing petrol
engines. As such, there will be a 3.0-litre V6 in both 340PS and 380PS form, and a 5.0-
litre supercharged unit. This is likely to produce around 510PS. All engines will send their
power through eight-speed transmission to the rear wheels. The rest of this cat's secrets
will be revealed at The Paris Motor Show. But for crying out loud - approach it with caution.
