Jaguar Land Rover Becomes Britain's Largest Automotive Manufacturer
5 Years of steady progression has proven fruitful for Britain...
The UK has experienced its best year in over a decade after producing over 1,587,677 cars throughout 2015. More than 500,000 of those cars came from the three Jaguar Land Rover manufacturing plants in the UK, in Solihull, Liverpool and Birmingham.
Jaguar Land Rover introduced 11 brand new or refreshed models to the lineup in 2015 which, in turn, justified a £1billion investment into a high tech Engine Manufacturing Centre for their award winning Ingenium engines.
In the last 5 years, the growth of Jaguar Land Rover in the UK has warranted more than 10,000 new jobs which leaves the total workforce at over 35,000 in the UK.
Jaguar Land Rover's Executive Director of Manufacturing, Wolfgang Stadler said “Britain is the beating heart of our business, so becoming the country’s largest vehicle manufacturer is a remarkable achievement, demonstrating our steadfast commitment to the UK manufacturing sector.
“2015 was a challenging year for the industry against a backdrop of socio economic instability, but it is a testament to our strong product range and dedicated team of employees that Jaguar Land Rover has delivered year on year growth, with more exciting products to come.”
