The 2009 Formula 1 World champion Jenson Button is to auction off his 1978 Ferrari 512BB Berlinetta Boxer. The car is to be sold by Bonhams at the RAF museum along with other Collectors’ Motor Cars.

Button has owned the car for the best part of a year, and says his reason for selling is due to his busy schedule and not getting time to drive the car. ““I've had a great time driving the Boxer, however my F1 commitments will not enable me to enjoy the car to its fullest”.

The car itself is a wonderful example with Button adding that in September 2010 “It has had a thorough service that has addressed all the usual issues of an older Ferrari.” The inside of the Ferrari Boxer has had an all-new interior by renowned marque specialist Nick Cartwright in the 1980’s, in 33 years the total cost lavished upon this beautiful Ferrari is £94,000.

The Boxer has an odometer reading of 49,155 miles and comes finished in Black with a light oatmeal leather interior. The Ferrari is estimated to fetch around £90,000 - £110,000 ($147,471 - $180,243)
