John Travolta Vintage Mercedes-Benz found ‘chopped up’
John Travolta’s vintage Mercedes-Benz was stolen when he parked it outside a Jaguar dealership for ten minutes in September last year
John Travolta’s vintage Mercedes-Benz was stolen when he parked it outside a Jaguar dealership for ten minutes in September last year. At the time of the theft John Travolta said "I was looking for Jaguars, and it was a beautiful, spotless dealership and I left it parked on the side, and eight to ten minutes later, my car was gone, and it's like that movie, 'Gone in 60 Seconds', like, who can explain it?" He then quipped "but at least it wasn't a jet, though that might be easier to find."
Now his beloved Mercedes estimated to be worth up to $100,000 has been partially recovered at a ‘chop shop’ in LA where stolen vehicles are often found by the police.
Parts that have been recovered include hub caps, tyres, leather seats and a speedometer.
Sgt Richard Lewis, who was investigating the theft, said "it was not recovered in whole. It was chopped. We have numerous pieces recovered but not the entire car."
