Juan Manuel Fangio Honoured at Goodwood

F1 World Champion, Juan Manuel Fangio, will be honoured at the Goodwood Annual Driver Tribute.

F1 World Champion, Juan Manuel Fangio, will be honoured at the Goodwood Annual Driver Tribute at this weekend's Revival (September 16th-18th). This momentous tribute takes places on the centenary of his birth and the sixtieth anniversary of his 1951 World Championship. This legendary racer cemented his reputation by claiming further titles in 1954, 1955, 1956, and 1957. Despite the risk of competing in the fifties, Fangio survived his racing career and later sold Mercedes-Benz cars. He lived to the ripe-old age of eighty- four.

Juan Manual Fangio raced twice at Goodwood, his best result being second in the BRM V16 P15 in September 1953. This legendary machine will be on show at the tribute. Numerous other racers driven by the Argentine will make an appearance. These include: three Mercedes-Benz cars from the marque’s Stuttgart-based Museum, the ex-300 SLR, W196, and W196 Streamliner. His Jaguar C-Type and various Maseratis will also make their presence felt. These will be joined by former team mates, including Sir Stirling Moss.
