The Mercedes-Benz S 65 AMG L costs £163,385 so it has some “basic” equipment. But
that is not enough for some motorists. As such, this flagship saloon is available with various
optional extras that must satisfy even the pickiest. And quite right too. Who, for starters,
could contemplate life without the Night View Assist PLUS system. This uses an infrared
beam mounted behind the headlight to project an image onto a screen behind the steering
wheel. This helps motorists see poorly lit cyclists, pedestrians, and other hazards. All for a
comparatively low £1,525. This complements the heated steering wheel that costs a further
£215.
At last, a few essentials. Also, what self respecting motorist could live without a ski
bag, panoramic sunroof, and fridge? These basics cost: £250, £855, and £875 respectively.
The Mercedes-Benz S 65 AMG L – once fitted with these optional extras – might just satisfy
picky motorists. If not, they can distract themselves with the monstrous engine. This 6.0-
litre V12 produces 630PS, propels gadget lovers to 62mph in only 4.4 seconds, and on to
a mighty 155mph. This complements the S-Class' handling that can only be described as
masterful. The supreme ride, astonishing agility, and beautifully weighted steering ensure
that. And, of course, this is the flagship Mercedes saloon so its prestige is almost beyond
comparison. Anyone still unsatisfied can have a fire extinguisher for £95. Some people, ey?
