Mini celebrate half century

Three new limited edition cars

Mini has announced three new limited edition cars to celebrate the half century of its name.

The Mini John Cooper Works Championship 50 is quite some name and is based on the hatchback version of the MINI John Cooper Works. Nearly every optional extra available to a John Cooper Works customer is fitted as standard to this car, and production will be limited to just 250 units, all painted in Connaught Green and available for sale only in Europe.

The remaining two new additions are based on the standard hatchback with the Chilli option pack fitted as standard. The Mini 50 Mayfair and Mini 50 Camden are available in Cooper, Cooper D and Cooper S forms. The Camden is to look more “futuristic” and the Mayfair is intended to have a classic look with traditional features. The Mayfair will cost between £18,415 and £21,280 depending on the choice of engine and the Camden is slightly cheaper. Sales for these minis will start in September but orders are being taken now.

All three of the new Minis made their official debut during the recent MINI United 2009 event, which was held at Silverstone and attended by 25,000 fans from 40 countries.
