New Chrysler Ypsilon 1.3 M-Jet SE

The Chrysler Ypsilon 1.3 M-Jet SE has five doors, four wheels, and one very confusing
name. How do we pronounce 'Ypsilon'? Silent 'P', perhaps? Long on the 'Y'? Whatever we
say it sounds like a baby sneezing. Imagine the conversation in the showroom. “I would
like to buy a Chrysler Achoo, please”. Despite the name this city car has its strengths.
Check-out the looks, for starters. The nose resembles the Alfa Romeo Mito, the boot
screams Ford Ka, and the rear door handles are concealed within the C pillars. As such
this run-around is very distinctive which can be a significant plus-point for new car buyers.
The Chrysler Ypsilon 1.3 M-Jet SE produces a pleasing 95bhp.
That propels it to 62mph
in 11.4 seconds, so this variant is the joint fastest in the range. It is also the most fuel
efficient. Expect to average a staggering 74.3mpg and to return 88.3mpg on the extra-
urban cycle. That makes-up for the funny name. This run-around is also easy to drive
thanks to its light steering, smooth five-speed manual transmission, and the comfortable
ride. No heroics though, this is a cruiser with little enthusiasm for hard cornering. It prefers
to wander around with its reasonable equipment specification and its respectable 245-
litre boot. The only potential problem is the price. The Ypsilon will relieve you of £14,195.
Ouch!
