New Mitsubishi Shogun Black
The new Mitsubishi Shogun Black is black.
The new Mitsubishi Shogun Black is black. It can also be white, silver, red, or brown –
but these are the only colours available on this hard-core special edition. Every paint
finish is complemented by striking exterior features that distinguish the Black from its less
aggressive siblings. These include the black: twenty-inch alloy wheels, roof, spoiler, wing
mirrors, grille, headlamp bezels, fog lamp surrounds, door handles and side steps. Does
that explain why I cannot find “black” paint at my local DIY store? The result of Mitsubishi's
efforts is that this Shogun looks tougher than a bouncer at the world's meanest nightclub.
Fortunately, the Mitsubishi Shogun Black has some muscle to complement its aggressive
looks. This comes in the form of its 3.2-litre diesel engine that produces 197bhp, and –
more importantly for mud-plungers and trailer towers – a useful 441Nm of torque.
This
hefty four-wheel-drive also averages around 35mpg. The interior is pleasing too, so
motorists benefit from the: leather upholstery, reversing camera, iPod connection, and the
satellite navigation system. This rugged workhorse also has a reassuring brake override
system. So, if the driver accidentally presses the throttle and brake together, the Shogun
Black selects the safer braking option. What we need now is a Shogun “Bright Pink”. Nice!
