New Nissan Qashqai to be built in UK

Nissan have announced that the new Nissan Qashqai will be built, designed and engineered in the UK. The new Nissan Qashqai represents a £192 million investment in Britain and is being funded entirely by Nissan. It will build on the success of the current Qashqai which is the highest-volume car produced in the UK with export levels of around 80 per cent.

Prime Minister David Cameron said “this investment from Nissan is fantastic news and a great demonstration of the strength and vitality of the UK car industry. That future manufacturing and R& D has been secured is a tribute to the skill, expertise and hard work of Nissan’s UK workforce.” The Nissan Qashqai has secured a spot in the UK’s top ten best sellers list due to its massive sales success.

The Nissan Qashqai has a lot to offer, it is not quite a 4x4 but it is more than just a hatchback. The space is excellent in the Nissan Qashqai with plenty of head and legroom. The rear seat bench is wide enough to carry three. The boot is big and can be expanded to 660 litres when the rear seats are split.

There are four engine options available, the 1.6 and two litre petrol and a 1.5 and two litre diesel. The entry level has air conditioning, alloy wheels, CD player, four powered windows and a Bluetooth hands free telephone kit.

The current Nissan Qashqai production line in Sunderland has been running around the clock for more than a year to meet global demand, producing an average of 1,200 Qashqais per day. No other car is made in such numbers in the UK, and Nissan is easily Britain’s biggest car manufacturer.
