New Peugeot 308 exceeds 60,000 orders
Demand creates new jobs
The new Peugeot 308 has exceeded 60,000 orders across Europe since its launch. Due to the great demand Peugeot is introducing a third night shift in June which will create a massive six hundred jobs.
The new Peugeot 308 was recently voted 2014 European Car of the Year. The family hatchback is available in four trim levels, Access (from £14,495), Active (from £17,195), Allure (from £18,645) and Feline (from £20,995). All the models are available with five petrol and HDi diesel engines and all of these engines offer class-leading fuel economy and low CO2 emissions. The highlight for environmentally aware drivers is the 1.6-litre HDi 92, which has CO2 emissions of just 93g/km this means less time spent filling up on forecourts, while the CO2 classifications mean low VED road tax bandings. The New 308 is also an exceptional car to drive thanks to its advanced steering and damping technology. The 308 has also been awarded the maximum score of five stars in the Euro NCAP tests with individual scores of five stars in all four categories which include adult protection, pedestrian protection, child protection and safety assist. The tests carried out by the independent Euro NCAP were done using the new tighter protocol for allocating results.
Following the success of the new 308 a new Peugeot 308 SW estate version is due to be launched. This SW estate version will go on sale in June. It is a sleek, spacious estate offering all the qualities of the hatchback in terms of design, fuel efficiency and quality, along with a 660 litre boot which is the largest in its segment. The new estate will be offered with a choice of four petrol and five diesel versions from launch, all with particularly fuel-efficient characteristics. The 308 SW will also be offered with the brand new three cylinder Turbo PureTech petrol engine (1.2-litre e-THP 130bhp) and three blue HDI powertrains, including the new 1.6-litre 120bhp BlueHDi that delivers the lowest CO2 emissions in the segment at just 82g/km.
Peugeot M.D. Tim Zimmerman said “the New 308 is a significant leap forward for Peugeot. It’s high on style and quality and provides a truly rewarding driving experience, all at a value-for-money price. We’re confident it will be a big hit with UK customers.” In June the estate version will arrive and there is no doubt this will be just as successful.
