The Porsche Cayenne Turbo S makes grown men cry like newborn babies. Some gush
with joy, others despair. Why? Because this new top-of-the range trim has a 4.8-litre
twin-turbocharged petrol engine. This V8 produces 550bhp and 750Nm of torque, which
propels emotionally fragile motorists to 62mph in 4.5 seconds and on to 175mph. Potential
owners therefore weep with joy. But these figures eclipse its predecessor, the Turbo. This
produces 50bhp less and has 50Nm less torque. It is therefore slower to 62mph by 0.2
seconds and is only – and we say 'only' comparatively – capable of 173mph. Surely, that
makes those who paid £87,726 cry like children who have found out about Santa. Boohoo.
The Porsche Cayenne Turbo S has other tricks to eclipse its predecessor. Tissues on
standby, then.
Highlights include new leather interior packages that have striking colour
combinations. These are Black/Carrera Red and Black/Luxor Beige. Decorative seems
complete the package. Come now... hold it together. This large 4x4 also has twenty-one
inch ‘911 Turbo II’ alloys specifically created for the Turbo S. The inside surfaces are high-
gloss black, which gives Turbo owners something else to cry about. This beast also has
the Porsche Dynamic Chassis Control system to minimise body roll, and an electronically
controlled rear differential to improve traction. But now for something that makes everyone
cry. From launch in January 2013, the Porsche Cayenne Turbo S will cost £107,460. Sniff!
