New SEAT Leon starts production
SEAT has started production of the new Leon hatchback it was unveiled at the Paris Motor Show in September and will be built alongside the Ibiza, Altea and Exeo at the Martorell plant in Spain.
The new SEAT Leon is the first all-new production vehicle to display SEAT’s latest design language, and signals an enormous step forward for the brand, equipped with a host of ground-breaking technology for improved safety and enhanced connectivity it is the first in its class to offer full LED headlights as an option. The car will be 90 kilograms lighter and 52 millimetres shorter than the previous this will improve fuel consumption and handling. The interior has more passenger space and luggage capacity.
Every new SEAT Leon is equipped with start/stop technology for greater effienciency it will offer a wide range of petrol and diesel engines to suit every taste and budget.
The all-new model is the result of an overall investment of 800 million euros and Dr. Andreas Tostmann, SEAT Executive Vice President for Production, said “with the new Leon we have increased productivity by 10% and become more flexible, thus guaranteeing optimisation of production costs. The 800 million Euros investment in the new Leon consolidates our leadership position as Spain’s number one industrial investor in R& D. The Leon, together with the Ibiza, represents the very essence of SEAT. It is a vehicle that projects strength, exuding precision and quality.”
