New Smart Fortwo Revealed
Spot the difference? The new Smart Fortwo is still 'for two'.
Spot the difference? The new Smart Fortwo is still 'for two'. It is still available as a coupé and cabriolet, and it is still offered with six engine and motor variants. Like its predecessor, it is available in: Pure, Pulse, Passion, BRABUS, and BRABUS Xclusive trims – and it is still easy to drive, cheap to run, reasonably equipped, and quirky. So, why the new model? The Smart Fortwo now wears a 'smart' new suit to keep it looking young. This is the motoring equivalent of a nip 'n' tuck. Enhancements include the: larger radiator grille, new front and rear aprons, horizontally arranged LED daytime running lights, and the muscular skirts. Furthermore, the air inlets under the number plate have been combined into a single unit, lending the Fortwo a bolder appearance. There is a choice of three new wheel styles too. It also has a new chrome-coloured logo positioned within the purposeful radiator grille. "The way in which the Fortwo now displays the Smart logo more prominently stands for the brand's new self-confidence," notes Smart boss Dr Annette Winkler. "The Smart Fortwo has long become an icon that is a defining feature of urban traffic throughout the world." The new Smart Fortwo also has a revised interior to complement its clothing. As such, plastic surgeons have installed new imitation leather/fabric combinations on the seats, door trims, and instrument panel. The differences are far from night/day – but the cabin feels comfortable, bang-up-to-date, and fairly robust. The surgeons have earned their pay.
