Toyota's new GT 86 sports car makes its world debut at the Tokyo Motor Show on the 30th November; the car will go on sale in the UK in June 2012.

The Toyota GT 86 is built on a new platform, with a highly aerodynamic bodyshell stretched tight over the car’s mechanical elements. Rather than fitting a heavy, large capacity powertrain, Toyota has opted instead to go back to its sporting roots, installing a compact, front-mounted, free-revving petrol engine that drives the rear wheels.

The exterior has a powerful appearance with sporting details including the model-specific 17-inch alloy wheels, rear spoiler, twin exhausts and the “86” piston logo that denotes the car’s special powertrain configuration. The interior boasts all black roof lining, red stitching on the upholstery, aviation style rocker switches and lightweight aluminium pedals.

Wow well done Toyota.......it's not very often you seen a car debuting that looks seriously dated before its release ! The car has the body shape of an old Z4 coupe, the back end of a Vauxhall Monaro and the front end of an S2000 ! A poor return to making sports car in my opinion. Disappointing.

Except for the colour, by all means, an excellent car! Love the 17' alloy wheels, rear spoiler and the twin exhaust! Lovely, very lovely! Jane
