Nissan Qashqai Passes The Two Million Mark

Landmark for UK Car Production

The British-built Nissan Qashqai has made automotive history – reaching the two million milestone quicker than any other model in the history of the UK car industry.

The popularity of the affordable crossover means it has reached the milestone ahead of iconic brands such as the Mini and the Ford Fiesta – taking just eight years to achieve two million units.

The two millionth Qashqai to roll off the Sunderland production line was a magnetic red model in the new n-tec grade.  This includes new styling features as well as Nissan Safety Shield technologies like Forward Emergency Braking, Traffic Sign Recognition, Lane Departure Warning and High Beam Assist. These innovative safety features will have no doubt contributed to the maximum five star rating that the new Qashqai was awarded.

Paul Willcox, Chairman, Nissan Europe, said: “The Qashqai is helping Nissan to go from strength to strength in Europe. Two million customers can’t be wrong. Thank you to all of our loyal customers and I congratulate all my colleagues in Sunderland for reaching this latest milestone.”

Strong residual value

Not quite a 4x4 but more than a hatchback, the Qashqai offers plenty of head and legroom, with a rear seat bench that is wide enough to carry three. The boot is big and can be expanded when the rear seats are split.

Good news for those who purchase a Nissan Qashqai is that it will retain fifty percent of its value after three years/30,000 miles which is a ten per cent improvement on its predecessor, according to latest data from residual value (RV) setters CAP.

CAP figures show that the new £ 20,840 Qashqai 1.5 dCi Acenta now has an RV of fifty per cent or £ 10,400 after three years, meaning that the new Qashqai is set to retain £ 2,375 more over its first three years of life compared to its outgoing equivalent. Not only does this position Qashqai as the C segment diesel Crossover king but also places it ahead of some key hatch rivals such as the Volkswagen Golf.

I love my magnetic red Qashqai... It's high tech and saving all my money after I bough it.

Well done Nissan, great car, great achievement.
