Order Books open for the new Volkswagen Beetle

The new Volkswagen Beetle is now open for orders; first UK deliveries will be in the spring 2012.

Two engines will be offered at launch a 1.2-litre TSI 105 PS mated to a seven-speed DSG transmission and a 1.4-litre 160 PS TSI with a six-speed manual gearbox. Three trim levels are available; Beetle, Design and Sport. The range-topping Sport specification brings 18-inch alloys in a choice of two styles, tinted glass, cruise control, sports seats, parking sensors, gloss black door mirrors, dashboard and door panel and 2Zone electronic climate control.

The interior of the new Volkswagen Beetle is extremely retro with the instrumentation large and clear, the body-coloured inserts and big glovebox lid similar to the original old style Beetle. The vase for flowers has gone in its masculine transformation too. There is more space in the new car, the boot has grown by a useful 30% with 310 litres of space available (905 litres with the seats folded); that seats-up figure is just 40 litres shy of a three-door Golf's.

A wide range of optional equipment will also be available, including Keyless Access, satellite navigation systems, a panoramic sunroof and bi-xenon headlights.

If you look on the official VW website the prices are listed there. Also it doesn't say about diesel models but told by an insider at VW UK it will follow in June... hope that helps

price please and how many mpg and is there a diesel model.

Pricing may have been announced, as you say in the headline, but you failed to mention it is the few words here. And the links didn't lead me anywhere useful. Come on, stop the tease!
