Top Gear’s Best SUV the new Fiat Panda 4x4

Fiat Panda 4x4 Top Gear Magazine Winner

The new Fiat Panda 4x4 was voted the ‘Best SUV’ by Top Gear Magazine, this new SUV is the only four wheel drive in the A segment and represents great value for money priced from under £15,000.

There are two engines offered, both with Start/Stop; the new 85 HP 0.9 TwinAir Turbo which was awarded the 2011 International Engine of the Year or the ultra efficient 75 HP 1.3 MultiJet 2 diesel. The car returns a massive 60.1mpg if you opt for the MultiJet and 57.6mpg for the TwinAir. Co2 emissions are only 114g/km for the TwinAir version and just 125g/km for the MultiJet 2.

There is a huge standard equipment list that includes air conditioning, smoked finish 15” alloy wheels, driver, passenger and window airbags, Blue&Me Multimedia system and protective side mouldings. The car also features an ESC (Electronic Stability Control) system with an ELD (Electronic Locking Differential) function as standard. This system provides additional assistance while driving and setting-off uphill on slippery terrain (snow, ice, mud etc.). The ELD acts by braking the wheels with poor grip (or those slipping more than the others), thereby transferring the drive force to those which have more grip on the ground. This function can be activated manually by pressing a button behind the gear lever and operates below thirty miles per hour. There is also a vast range of optional equipment and accessories available to further enhance either it’s urban or off-road use, as required.

Fiat Panda 4x4 has spacious and comfortable ‘eco’ interior

The interior of the Panda 4x4 is extremely comfortable and spacious. The eco-leather and fabric interiors emphasise its “green” side, while features like the dashboard storage compartment and the option of different seat configurations, allow you to have a functional and spacious passenger compartment.

The Panda 4x4 is currently available from just £199 per month through Fiat i-deal, with Fiat i-Deal you have the option to return the vehicle and not pay the final payment, subject to the vehicle not having exceeded an agreed annual mileage (a charge of 6p per mile for exceeding six thousand miles per annum in this example) and being in good condition.

Motoring.co.uk comments; it is fair to say that Fiat have had some tough times over the years and market share has been on decline, but with such a fun and funky model which is also practical and cheap to run, along with an excellent finance deal it is great new car to own with the stamp of approval from Top Gear.
