Toyota Prius Plug-in Hybrid wins Next Green Car Award

The Toyota Prius Plug-in Hybrid has won the Next Green ‘Large Family 2012’ car award. Matt Harrison, Commercial Director, Toyota (GB) plc said "we are delighted that the Toyota Prius Plug-in has won the Next Green Car Award, particularly as it coincides with the new model going on sale in the UK. Plug-in hybrid represents the next step in Toyota hybrid technology, providing all the benefits of an electric vehicle but none of the downsides in terms of limited performance or driving range. As world leaders in hybrid technology we have now sold more than four million hybrids globally since launch."

The new Toyota Prius+ Europe’s first full hybrid seven seat MPV is available to order now with first deliveries from the 9th July. The Toyota Prius+ in T4 trim produces 96g/km thanks to the exceptional efficiency of its Hybrid Synergy Drive powertrain.

This makes the Prius+ the only seven-seat model on the UK market to come in below the 100g/km CO2 threshold for zero road tax and London congestion charge exemption. Fuel economy adds to Prius+ attractive total ownership cost: official figures are 68.9mpg for the T4 and 64.2mpg for the T Spirit.

Seven exterior colours are available for Prius+: Pure White and Astral Black (solid) Decuma Grey, Tyrol Silver, Vermilion Red and Orion Blue (metallics) and White Pearl (pearlescent). The T4 grade comes with Hayama grey cloth upholstery, with Nagara black leather fitted to the T Spirit.
