Tips To Keep Your Vehicle Safe
The Driver Vehicle Licensing Agency has a few 'top tips' to keep your vehicle safe. Most are fairly obvious, but it is remarkable how many people fail to take even basic precautions. So, always lock the vehicle and either hide any valuables or take them with you. Keep the ownership documents at home - not in the car - as these make it easier for criminals to sell stolen vehicles. It is also worth removing marks on the windscreen left by your sat-nav system. These suggest there is something worth pinching within the car.

Parking in the safest places further minimises the risk of crime. Watch out for car parks approved by the Police Safer Parking Scheme. These follow strict rules to keep vehicles safe, although there is never a guarantee. At home, keep the car keys away from doors and windows as criminals use hooks and wires to drag keys towards them - often through letterboxes. Having the registration number etched into the glass is a good deterrent too.
