Ford in Talks With Renault to Sell Volvo

02-07-2008

Ford has had exploratory talks with French automaker Renault to sell Volvo, following up on talks that were held last autumn, but the talks ended quickly due to price differences. Ford has recently already sold off assets inculding Jaguar and Aston Martin. Reports state that Ford has also been in talks about a potential partner for Volvo with the Chinese manufacturer Dongfeng Motor Group.

Ford has recently stated that Volvo is not for sale, but in the current financial climate may have to. Ford has made a huge loss of around $15 Billion in the last 2 financial years and has had to abandon its plan of returning to profitability in 2009.
