Used Jaguar For Sale
Official: Jaguars from the eighties/nineties feel seventy-four percent more special than their counterparts. Why? Because they install a sense of occasion that makes even everyday trips more fun than a Blackadder Box Set. This strength comes, in part, from the remarkable styling that could only come from this legendary manufacturer. In contrast, remove the badges from some of the alternatives and they could easily be mistaken for any number of cars. And the good news is that old Jags can be sourced for very little money. The XJ6 Saloon (1994 to 1997), for example, is still a comfortable/luxurious workhorse and only costs from a couple of thousand pounds. However, it is best to spend a bit more and buy one that has been loved and has a full service history. Furthermore its replacement, the 1997 to 2003 XJ8 Saloon, has a V8 engine rather than a straight-six and is only slightly more expensive. But be careful, early examples have nikasil cylinder linings that cause problems too expensive to fix. Later versions have more robust timing chains too. A quick flick through Google reveals the VINs to avoid. Alternatively, the newer X-TYPE - that rivals the BMW 3 Series - and the S-TYPE - that rivals the BMW 5 Series - can also be snapped-up for very reasonable sums.
But that is the past, which is where this manufacturer was once accused of living. Not any more. Why? Because the traditionally styled cars from the eighties/nineties have been replaced with modern alternatives that in every measurable way are superior to their predecessors. Remarkable handling, staggering equipment specifications, and superior build quality come as standard. Sadly though, the styling - even though it is unquestionably attractive- fails to stand out like the elderly equivalents and that sense of occasion has gone too. But never mind. Modern highlights include the latest XJ Saloon which is more comfortable than a fifteen-star hotel. There are few vehicles that so effortlessly swallow-up mileage. This lifestyle statement complements the XF which is smaller, has won countless awards, and is available as a saloon and a more spacious estate called the Sportbrake. Plus, of course, the latest XK Coupe/Convertible creates an impression. But unlike old Jaguars these are not for those on a tight budget. Why? Because they often cost a fortune to buy, a fortune to run and several fortunes to repair.
