Used Toyota For sale
Did you know: Toyota is favoured by sensible people, that want sensible cars, for sensible tasks such as driving to work? How sensible. It can therefore - at least more than some competitors - put issues such as image to one side and concentrate on producing reliable, easy to live with, cars. Now, first things first. Toyota's reputation took a hit a few years ago following a couple of recalls. However, virtually every manufacturer has these issues and its products still feel more robust than most. So, let us consider the options. Highlights include the Toyota Corolla Saloon, Hatchback and Estate (2002 to 2006). This small family range feels beautifully screwed together and is pleasant to drive. It is not, however, as engaging through the corners as some rivals so it encourages 'sensible' driving. It is also nicely equipped considering its age. And there is more. This workhorse is a potential bargain. Why? Because it is old enough to be worth very little money but young enough to last for several years. Aim for a full service history and low mileage. The Corolla was succeeded by the 2007 Auris then the Auris Mk2 in 2012. Each builds on its predecessor's strengths so there is something for all budgets. How sensible.
Did you know: the 2009 Avensis Estate/Saloon is more spacious, better equipped, and more prestigious than the Auris? This is reflected in the second-hand prices that tend to be sensibly firm. However, the 2003 to 2008 version is more affordable and shares most of its replacement's strengths. These include sure-footed handling and a comfortable ride. Alternatively, those on a tight budget might favour the 1997 to 2003 version even though it now feels old fashioned. Still nice, though. Toyota caters for town drivers too. Contenders include the Yaris (2000 to 2005) which is a relatively safe, easy to drive, run-around that suits new drivers. It now costs very little too. Its strengths were inherited by the 2006 to 2011 Yaris and the current version. The latter is also available as a hybrid that has extremely low carbon emissions. Toyota has also produced four-wheel-drives such as the Land Cruiser which - unlike most four-wheel-drives that are fashion statements - can plough through extremely tough terrain. Oh, and best not forget the 2009 Verso seven seater and the 2012 Toyota GT86. The latter is not as 'sensible' as some of its siblings - but what a fantastic vehicle. Expect to pay accordingly.
