Used Vauxhall for sale

Vauxhall's cars are more popular than a free meal at the world's most expensive restaurant. Why? Because this long established company produces something for everyone. Highlights include the Corsa which - in modern form - is pleasant to drive, easily available on the second-hand market and cheap to run. Furthermore, elderly versions from the nineties can be picked-up for pennies and tend to run to very high mileage. The handling and refinement, however, might best be described as "off the period". This supermini is joined in the restaurant car park by the Astra, Vectra and Insignia which - although not necessarily class leading - have their strengths. As such recent examples of these hatchback and estate ranges have comfortable cabins and reasonable to impressive safety features. There are also plenty available for very little money, with reasonably new properly maintained Vectra models standing out as particularly good value. And there is more. The Vauxhall Zafira is a seven-seater multi-purpose vehicle that has a large cargo capacity once its rear seats are folded flat. What a fantastic family workhorse. However, those who want a similar vehicle with a smaller footprint can treat themselves to a five-seater Vauxhall Agila MPV. And why not?

Vauxhall produces fast and thrilling cars too. These include the VXR8 Saloon that has a 6.2-litre 431bhp V8 engine and charges to 62mph in 4.9 seconds. However, this beautifully sculpted muscle car is rare so it can be tricky to find a bargain. More accessible is the Vauxhall VX220 which is an ageing - although entertaining - open top sports car that has super-sharp handling as it was built and developed by Lotus. However, its problem is that the everyday badge tends to put-off the type of fashion conscious buyer that craves this class of car. But whatever the badge, there is one hard-core racer that every red-blooded enthusiast loves. The Vauxhall Lotus Carlton from the early nineties virtually matches the supercars of the period in terms of raw speed. As such, power comes from a 3.6-litre turbocharged petrol engine that produces 377bhp and propels thrill seekers to 62mph in 5.2 seconds. Top speed is 177mph which was controversial at the time. Why? Because some people could not accept that an (apparently) ordinary saloon from an everyday manufacturer could virtually match the flat-out speed of a Formula 1 car. No other Vauxhall looks better in a restaurant car park.
