Lotus has revealed an all new super car called the Lotus Elite. This new show car has a 612 bhp 5.0 litre V8 engine which incorporates electric motors although a petrol version will be available too.
The new Lotus Elite is capable of 0-62mph in just 3.5 seconds and produces co2 emissions of 215g/km. The Lotus Elite will use a kinetic energy recovery system to charge a battery pack powering twin electric motors. Its early days for this super car and it is not known if the car will able to drive on electricity alone.
The car will not be available until the year 2014 and it is estimated to be costing approximately £115,000. Lotus CEO Dany Bahar said "one could say it's a car of perfect contradictions, it's compact yet spacious, high performing yet low emitting, lightweight yet still reassuringly solid. There will always be those who believe that Lotus should stick to small sports cars but we didn't take the decision to design something like the Elite lightly, it's based on months of careful research and planning."
