Silverstone Auctions Presents Rare Italian Sports Cars
Ferraris that have covered virtually no miles and been preserved in exceptional condition in a private collection are to be sold by Silverstone Auctions, alongside a rare Alfa Romeo.
The Ferrari Testarossa is the arguable highlight. This 1991 model has covered 955 miles and is presented – according to Silverstone Auctions – in “immaculate condition”. It is accompanied by the Cartier watch and luggage set the manufacturer included with the original sale. The Testarossa's probable hammer price is between £130,000 and £150,000.
The 1991 Ferrari Mondial T is more affordable at £50,000 to £70,000, and has travelled 1,180 miles. Silverstone Auctions says the model has been “undervalued by collectors for many years” - and is “tipped by many to be the next Ferrari to rise significantly in value”.
Finally, the Alfa Romeo SZ has travelled 502 miles since registration in 1991. It is expected to sell for between £50,000 and £70,000. This vehicle is extremely rare as only 998 were produced over a 2 year period. Of these, only 100 were imported to the United Kingdom.
Silverstone Auctions General Manager, Guy Lees-Milne, says: “This is a very special collection of Italian exotica and each of the cars is in almost brand new condition. It’s rare to find 1 or even 2 of these cars with such low mileage - but to find three is something special.”
The Silverstone Auction' Race Retro Sale takes place on February 21st - 22nd 2015, at Stoneleigh Park in Warwickshire.
