Audi Q7 Preview
Flagship SUV is updated for 2015
The all-new Audi Q7 has entered into its second generation with significant changes to the SUV model.
Over half a million have been sold since it came onto UK roads in 2006 but the latest incarnation is more efficient, better equipped and is now much lighter shedding up to (a quite justified) 325 kilograms in weight.
The bonus of the Q7 is its size with three rows of seats to easily accommodate seven people. Passengers in the second row of seats can adjust them with a tilt and fold function and the third row can be folded away for increased luggage space, which goes from 770 litres to 1,955 litres.
Technology has also been enhanced in the Q7 and the 8.3-inch display screen can be worked by the MMI large touchpad, so navigation, media and even internet can be accessed easily through the Audi connect system using the inbuilt 4G connection.
New for 2015 is the ability to listen to your favourite music using Apple Car Play and Google Android Auto in the car.
Another new addition is the Audi virtual cockpit which made its debut in the new TT at the end of 2014; the 12.3-inch TFT display has revolutionised the driver’s display with its crystal clear graphics. Quality sound systems from Bose and Bang & Olufsen while a detachable Audi tablet for rear passengers makes it great for those in the back seat. This Q7 really is offering plenty of technology.
Under the bonnet is a 3.0-litre TDI diesel engine producing 272PS, and using an eight-speed tiptronic transmission the quattro all-wheel drive model takes just 6.5 seconds to get to 62mph. Efficiency has also been improved and the diesel emits 153g/km of CO2 with a combined fuel consumption figure of 47.9mpg.
Standard equipment on the Q7 now includes a full body-colour paint finish, Xenon plus headlights with LED daytime running lights, a powered tailgate and newly designed 19-inch alloy wheels on the SE version.
The top-end S line trim offers 20-inch wheels, all-weather LED running lights and high beam assist function and dynamic rear indicators.
Orders are being taken now for the Audi Q7 which starts from £50,340 with deliveries starting in August 2015.
