The new BMW Mini Countryman has been awarded the top 5 star score in the latest Euro NCAP crash test results. Equipment protecting the passengers inside the Mini Countryman includes front and side airbags, curtain head airbags covering both rows of seats, three-point inertia-reel seatbelts for all seats and ISOFIX child seat attachments in the rear. The front seats have belt tensioners and belt force limiters, while the safety steering column of the Mini Countryman also comes with a deformation element. The body structure, restraint systems and safety electronics are perfectly coordinated to minimise the consequences of any type of collision.
The BMW Mini Countryman offers a choice of three petrol and two diesel engines ranging in power from 89 bhp in the One Diesel Mini Countryman which is capable of 50mpg to the 181bhp 1.6 litre Mini Countryman Cooper S. There are other fuel saving additions including brake energy recuperation, a stop start system and a gear change indicator.
Jochen Goller, Director, Mini UK said ‘we knew that there would be an appetite in the UK for the extra space and greater flexibility which the Mini Countryman has to offer, especially amongst customers who reluctantly left Mini when they needed a four door car, but the extent of customer reaction has been quite overwhelming. The NCAP 5 Star rating will without doubt generate further demand for the Mini Countryman.’
