Motoring Extravaganza Is Packed With Family Entertainment
CarFest North, organised by broadcaster Chris Evans returned to the Oulton Park race circuit in Cheshire for the second year running. Despite the inclement weather the motoring event had plenty to entertain visitors with cars, bikes, food and music on the agenda.
Manufacturers were showing off their latest models with Citroen displaying their striking Cactus and Mitsubishi celebrating their 40th anniversary with a classic Lancer and the new Outlander PHEV. Fiat showcased their 500 range in a variety of bright colours, while Lexus had people swarming around their new RC F and NX models.
There were plenty of cars on track to entertain spectators including the Magnificent Seven which featured Ferrari classics and the 2014 789bhp La Ferrari. Lady Penelope’s Thunderbirds FAB 1 managed to squeeze itself out of the garage to do some laps of the circuit along with the Back to the Future Delorean DMC12 and the Beetle made famous in the Herbie films. People were also treated to the quick Honda Mean Mower, which set a new world record for the fastest lawnmower at 116mph and the strange looking motorised bed and bathroom.
Supercars were out in force with Jeremy Clarkson’s favourite Lexus LFA blasting around, the Aston Martin Vanquish and the newly released Lamborghini Huracan.
Once again, Ford teamed up with stunt driver Paul Swift and his team as they put the new Fiesta Zetec S Red and Black Edition through its paces with j-turns and parallel parking, really pushing the latest Ford addition to the limit.
The car features Ford’s International Engine of the Year in 2012 and 2013, the 1.0-litre EcoBoost which turns the Fiesta into the most powerful 1.0-litre volume production car ever. Ford say the 140PS engine offers more power-per-litre than the Bugatti Veyron...and is obviously a fraction of the price.
Available from next month the car is available in the striking Race Red teamed with a Panther Black roof, or in Panther Black with the contrasting Race Red top and is priced from £15,995.
Away from the cars and there was plenty to keep the kids occupied with a play zone, a silent disco, bouncy castle kingdom and Honda even had youngsters taking taster sessions on mini-motorbikes.
As the day unwinded, visitors headed to the main stage to be entertained by acts such as Jools Holland, Texas, Simple Minds and Erasure over the three nights. With plenty of entertainment on offer, be sure to check out CarFest South which takes place at Laverstoke Park Farm in Hampshire over the 22-24 August Bank Holiday weekend.
