New green Peugeot 308 offers ’style without compromise’
A new car from Peugeot is the first to offer environmentally-friendly driving without any sacrifice to the motorist, it has been claimed.
The manufacturer stated that going green has previously involved compromising on size, style, price or fuel economy, but the new 207 ticks all the right boxes.
With a 1.6 engine that does 62 miles to the gallon, the family unit has a five-star Euro NCAP safety rating and falls into band B of the government’s road-charging tax classifications, meaning it would cost £35 per year to keep on the road.
"A car is generally the second largest purchase a person will make after a house and they certainly want to be proud of it … The 207 1.6 HDi 90 [is] a stylish car with a high specification," said Pierre Louis Colin, managing director of the company.
The firm will launch the Peugeot 308 concept car at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September 2007.
