Red Bull driver Sebastian vettel drove a fantastic race from pole position to win the 2011 F1 Turkish Grand Prix. Sebastian vettel managed to lead from pole position while his team mate Mark Webber dropped from second on the grid to third after being overtaken by Mercedes driver Nico Rosberg. McLaren driver Lewis Hamilton started fourth on the grid but dropped to sixth after being overtaken by team mate Jenson Button and Ferrari driver Fernando Alonso down to turn one.Lap 9 saw the first pit stops of the race with Lewis Hamilton and Felipe Massa coming in for fresh tyres, followed by Fernando Alonso, Mark Webber and Nico Rosberg all stopping on lap 10. Sebastian Vettel stopped on lap 11 and came out in second position but regained pole at the end of the lap when Jenson Button Pitted for fresh rubber. Nico Rosberg dropped down to fifth place, after being overtaken by Mark Webber, Fernando Alonso, Jenson Button and Lewis Hamilton all down to turn 12 on separate laps, this was because of a suspected problem with Rosberg’s KERS system and such an early activation point on the DRS system for the cars behind. Lewis Hamilton suffered from a very slow pit stop on lap 35, when the front right wheel nut on the McLaren car refused to go on, then to add insult to injury McLaren had to hold Hamilton to let Felipe Massa through to complete his stop. Red Bull Racing made it a one-two finish with Mark Webber finishing second, ahead of Ferrari driver Fernando Alonso finishing third, taking his his first podium finish of the 2011 Formula 1 season. McLaren driver Lewis Hamilton finished fourth with team mate Jenson Button finishing sixth behind Mercedes GP driver Nico Rosberg. Nick Heidfeld finished seventh ahead of Vitaly Petrov, Sebastian Buemi and Kamui Kobayashi taking the rest of the points.
