Fiat Panda 4x4 Praised By Panel Of Judges
The Fiat Panda 4x4 has been named 2015 Caravan Club Tow Car of The Year in the under £16,500 category.
It was evaluated in 1.3 MultiJet II Turbo Diesel form by a panel of experts including motoring journalists and Caravan Club members.
Tests considered how effectively it accelerated, braked, performed hill starts and found traction.
Judges also considered how easily it connected to a caravan, the quality of any related guidance in the handbook, and whether it had the cargo capacity to swallow the equipment typically required by a caravanner.
The judges said that its strengths include “amazingly good stability at all speeds and good all-round visibility”. Its 1.3-litre MultiJet II diesel power plant was said to be “such a sweet engine” as it “pulls really well”.
The comfortable seats and “funky” interior found favour too. The Panda's win was confirmed at the Caravan Club Towcar of the Year Awards ceremony, held at the Royal Automobile Club in London.
The Panda 4x4 is a supermini size vehicle that has four-wheel-drive and high ground clearance for negotiating off-road hazards.
The first version was introduced about thirty years ago and the most recent in 2012.
Fiat Representative Discusses Panda 4x4 Award
Kate McLaren, Head of Brand, Fiat UK, said: “It’s well over thirty years since we launched the Fiat Panda 4x4 and I’m delighted that - three decades later - we are still winning top awards with it.
Panda 4x4 has won the under £16,500 category, but it does not look out of place up against much more expensive cars.
We have proved once again that Panda 4x4 offers so much in terms of practicality and style.”
