Fiat Panda 4X4 picks up new award

Fiat Panda ‘Best Mini 4x4’

The new Fiat Panda 4x4 has been awarded ‘Best Mini 4x4’ by the UK’s best selling off road magazine ‘4x4 Magazine’. The Panda was praised for its capability and saw off its direct competition during the award adjudication which took place at a challenging off road course in Cheshire.

Nigel Fryatt, Editor of 4X4 Magazine said “one of the surprises of this year’s test was just how good the Fiat Panda 4x4 is. We used a test facility that was designed to demonstrate the abilities of far bigger and much more expensive vehicles. Allowing for limited ground clearance and power, we still managed to crawl the Panda over and through some significant obstacles. You needed care, and perhaps we took it further than most owners would, but that’s irrelevant. The point is that the Panda 4x4 could do it, with some style.”

Elena Bernardelli, FGA UK Marketing Director, commented “it is remarkable that thirty years after we launched the original Fiat Panda 4X4 it remains not only a best-seller but also a favourite of the experts. That the Fiat Panda 4X4 can go toe-to-toe with so many luxury off-road vehicles proves that you don’t have to sacrifice capability or practicality in order to reduce your running costs or to do your bit for the environment.”

The Fiat Panda 4x4 is the only four wheel drive in the A segment and represents great value for money priced from under £15,000. There are two engines offered, both with Start/Stop; the new 85 HP 0.9 TwinAir Turbo which was awarded the 2011 International Engine of the Year or the ultra efficient 75 HP 1.3 MultiJet 2 diesel. The car returns a massive 60.1mpg if you opt for the MultiJet and 57.6mpg for the TwinAir. Co2 emissions are only 114g/km for the TwinAir version and just 125g/km for the MultiJet 2.

There is a huge standard equipment list that includes air conditioning, smoked finish 15” alloy wheels, driver, passenger and window airbags, Blue&Me Multimedia system and protective side mouldings. The car also features an ESC (Electronic Stability Control) system with an ELD (Electronic Locking Differential) function as standard. This system provides additional assistance while driving and setting-off uphill on slippery terrain such as snow, ice, mud etc.

The new Fiat Panda 4x4 was recently voted the ‘Best SUV’ by Top Gear Magazine, it is a fun, funky model which is practical and cheap to run along with an excellent finance deal it is great new car to own with the stamp of approval from Top Gear.
