Environmentalists rejoice! The Ford Fiesta ECOnetic range has been extended. The super-efficient 1.6-litre 95PS diesel engine is now available on the Edge, Zetec, and Titanium trims. This power plant averages 78.5mpg and its carbon output is merely 95g/ km. Great news for cost conscious planet lovers. These rock-bottom emissions mean that road tax is free, and these Fiestas are exempt from the London Congestion Charge.Anthony Ireson, Ford of Britain marketing director, said: "Many drivers want to drive a car with lower emissions but still want comfort, performance and an affordable price. Expanding ECOnetic across the series answers that demand with style." The Ford Fiesta ECOnetic range is fuel efficient thanks to a series of technical enhancements. These include its: aerodynamic rear-air deflectors, lowered suspension, optimised resistance tyres, low friction oil, modified final gear ratio, and the transmission- shift indicator. This helps drivers minimise fuel consumption by advising them when to change cogs. The aim is to keep engine revs low by using higher gears as far as possible. These features are complemented by a pleasing equipment specification. The Edge has an electronic stability programme and air-conditioning – whereas the mid-spec Zetec has alloy wheels, front fog lights, and a leather steering wheel too. The top-of-the-range Titanium also has cruise control, power folding exterior mirrors, Bluetooth voice control, privacy glass, and automatic wipers and headlights. Prices range from £13,895 - £15,645.
