Forecourt Update: New Hyundai i20 Coupe
Hyundai Expands Range For Young Drivers
What Is it?
The Hyundai i20 Coupé is a sportier version of the i20 Hatchback that boosts the brands “appeal to younger audiences”, the manufacturer says. This is evident from the 3-door layout – rather than 5-door – the revised front and rear bumpers, large wheel arches and new interpretation of the company's hexagonal grille.
What Are The Engine Options?
New Generation i20 Coupé customers choose from 2 engines. The 1.2-litre, 84PS, petrol is teamed to 5-speed manual transmission. It propels drivers to 62mph in 12.8 seconds and averages 55.4mpg. Carbon emissions are 119g/km which equates to Road Tax Band C.
The 1.4-litre 90PS diesel engine, in contrast, is bolted to 6-speed manual transmission rather than 5-speed. 0-62mph takes 12.1 seconds, it returns 68.9mpg on the combined cycle and emits carbon at the rate of 106g/km. Its emissions place it in Road Tax Band B.
What Are The Trim Options?
Both the petrol and diesel engine can be matched to any of the 3 trims. The SE exterior has: 16” alloy wheels, tinted glass, a rear spoiler, front fog lights, rear parking sensors, electric / heated wing mirrors, side sill mouldings and LED daytime running lights.
Interior features include the: leather steering wheel and gear knob, Bluetooth with voice recognition, air-conditioning, tyre pressure monitoring system, speed-sensitive automatic door locks, smartphone docking station, cruise control and a speed limiter.
The Sport trim exterior adds: 17” wheels, privacy glass and power folding mirrors. Extra equipment includes: climate control, automatic headlights, more speakers and auto windscreen wipers.
The Sport Nav also benefits from satellite navigation – that comes courtesy of the 7” touch-screen – a reversing camera and DAB radio.
Anything Else I Need To Know?
The New i20 Coupé is available in a special colour to set it “apart from the rest of the range”. This Tangerine Orange accompanies a black interior with orange inserts. Its purpose – the manufacturer argues – is to further add to its “bold aesthetic”. Drivers can also choose from the entirety of the i20 Hatchback's colour pallet.
How Much Is It?
New i20 Coupé SE prices range from £12,725 - £14,725, and the Sport costs £13,725 to £15,725. The Sport Nav is priced from £14,400 to £16,400. Options include metallic paint that can be added to every trim. The i20 Coupé is available from March 26th 2015 and backed by a 5 year, unlimited mileage, warranty that remains with it if sold.
