Hyundai Launches New Entry Level Estate
What Is it?
The New Hyundai i30 Tourer S is the entry-level version of the manufacturer's small, family class, estate. It is distinguished from its predecessor by the hexagonal grille that is typical of the brand's current range. Furthermore, Hyundai says the i30's “fluidic styling and subtly sloping roof convey a constant sense of motion.”
The i30 Tourer has 5 seats and cargo capacity is 528-litres rising to 1,642-litres with the rear seats folded flat. These figures eclipse a wide range of rivals in the small family class – and embarrass some models from the large family class. The boot also has a retractable load cover to conceal luggage and a safety net.
What Engine Does It Have?
New Hyundai i30 Tourer S power comes from a 1.6-litre, 120PS, petrol engine that is teamed with 6-speed manual transmission. There is no automatic option. The charge from 0 - 62mph takes 10.9 seconds and it averages 42.8mpg. Fuel efficiency improves to 52.3mpg on the extra-urban cycle and falls to 32.5mpg in town Carbon emissions are 150g/km which equates to Road Tax Band F.
What Equipment Does It Have?
The New i30 Tourer range – rather than the S trim specifically – claimed Euro NCAP's maximum 5 star safety rating. S trim safety features include the: tyre pressure monitor, front/side/curtain airbags, anti-lock brakes, an electronic stability programme that minimises under/over steer, hill-start assist that stops it rolling backwards on slopes, and the front mounted seatbelt pre-tensioners.
New i30 comfort and convenience features include the: key-less entry system, Bluetooth with steering wheel mounted control, air-con, cooled glove box and the driver seat height adjuster.
The exterior benefits from the: heated electric wide view mirror (driver side), body coloured mirrors/handles and 15” steel wheels.

Tony Whitehorn, Hyundai Motor UK’s President and CEO, explained that the: “Current i30 has been a huge hit for us in the UK”, and the “New i30 is set to build on that success thanks to its updated design and unbeatable levels of standard equipment.
Furthermore, the manufacturer has come of age. Whereas it was once perceived as a budget brand, it is now a mainstream player that its competitors have to take seriously.
