Forecourt Update: Vauxhall Adam Grand Slam
High performance version of the Vauxhall Adam for 2015
What Is it?
The Vauxhall Adam Grand Slam is the top of the range, high performance, version of the manufacturer’s city class vehicle. It has three doors and a small hatchback-style boot.
This sporty trim looks more race-inspired than its siblings thanks to the front lip spoiler, side sill mouldings, and the extended bumper that incorporates a cut out for the exhaust pipe.
The Grand Slam also has a tuned chassis to improve the handling and make it more entertaining in corners. This complements the high performance VXR braking system.
What Are The Engine Options?
Power comes via a 1.4-litre, turbocharged, petrol engine that produces 150PS and 220Nm of torque. This physically compact power plant is connected to 6-speed manual transmission. It is capable of moving the Grand Slam from 0-62mph in 8.5 seconds and on to a maximum speed of 124mph.
The 1.4-litre turbo engine is equipped with start/stop technology to help meet Euro 6 emission standards. It averages 44.1mpg and the carbon emission figure is 149g/km.
What Are The Trim Options?
Grand Slam is the trim. It includes: LED daytime running and tail lights, climate control and Vauxhall's IntelliLink system that provides connectivity to external devices via Bluetooth and USB, plus apps. It is compatible with the latest smartphones that run Android and Apple iOS. The Grand Slam also has 7 speakers and a 7-inch, high definition, touch-screen.
Anything Else I Need To Know?
The Adam Grand Slam is available with 4 seating arrangements, 3 of which are exclusive to the trim. These include Recaro Performance seats in Morrocana or nappa leather.
