Good news from Ford for ‘Young Drivers’
Ford partner with insurance provider ‘Marmalade’
If you are a new young driver then car ownership could be easier than you think if a new Ford car is on your shopping list. Ford has joined up with insurance provider Marmalade which will reduce the high cost of insurance considerably for young drivers.
If you opt for a Ford Fiesta or a Ford Ka then Ford is offering a massive contribution of £1450 towards the insurance premium which will greatly reduce payments. The scheme means a telematics ‘black box’ is fitted free of charge by Marmalade, the box monitors acceleration, speed, braking and cornering force which builds a profit of a drivers skills and behaviour at the wheel. If the standard of driving proves to be unacceptable then advice and helpful tips are given to improve the standard. If driving skills do not improve to an acceptable standard then the insurance premium would increase. However figures show that nine out of ten Marmalade drivers never experience this.
There is also on-line access to the driving data which young drivers and parents can study which helps with improvement and support with the forum. Reports say that one in five young drivers experience accidents and mishaps in the first six months of driving but only one in seventeen Marmalade drivers has an accident in the same time which is extremely promising. Safety systems in the Ford Fiesta and the Ford Ka also further reduce any further risk to young drivers and these are standard in the latest models. The Fiesta also features the MyKey technology that allows parent to encourage seatbelt use and limits the top speed.
This new partnership from Ford is welcome news to young motorists and will most certainly help encourage driving more safely on our roads.
