HR Owen showcases largest display of Bugatti Veyrons
Bugatti Performance Week
How does witnessing a collection of cars worth 10 million euros and collectively producing nearly 7000bhp sound? If I also mention that the collection is just six cars, then you’ll realise that I can only be talking about one manufacturer and it is Bugatti. Sportscar dealer HR Owen have taken over their Jack Barclay Bugatti showroom in Berkeley Square, Mayfair with a very special collection of Veyrons. Their “Bugatti Performance Week” display runs from 10th to 15th June and is open to the general public, so you don’t need to wander in pretending that you’re going to buy one. On show are the fastest production sports cars in the world. One is the Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Super Sport, which in July 2010 set a new production car speed record of 267.82mph. With it’s 8-litre W16 engine, it blasts from 0 - 62 mph in a mind-blowing 2.5 seconds and was in the hands of Bugatti’s official driver, former French F1 driver, Pierre-Henri Raphanel when it took the record. Another milestone was achieved in April of this year, when driver Anthony Liu took the title of fastest open-top production sports car with the Veyron 16.4 Grand Sport Vitesse. His speed of 251.041mph in the 1,184bhp open-top was fast enough for Bugatti to again be record-breakers. This car is making its European premiere in Berkeley Square. Both cars are on display alongside two Grand Sport Vitesse supercars, which are priced from 1.74 million euros, their colour schemes sure to turn heads; one combining sulphur yellow and black olive, whilst the other mixes two shades of blue with the exposed carbon setting it off perfectly. With two versions of the Grand Sport in the showroom, then there is something for all tastes. First, the eye-catching green with exposed carbon car has front wings, mirrors and doors finished in hand-polished aluminium. Personally I think it sets the car off to be one of the most desirable cars I have ever seen....but with a 1.915 million euro price tag! The collection can be viewed from 9.00 - 18.00 and on Saturday from 10.00 - 17.00 at Jack Barclay Bugatti, 18 Berkeley Square, Mayfair, London. It simply must be visited to see such a unique collection of record-breaking, automotive design wonders, the likes of which Bugatti are famous for still to this day, with their designs from pre-war that still stand the test of time.
