Hyundai i10 is ‘Car of the Year’

2014 Car Dealer Power Awards

The new generation Hyundai i10 has been voted ‘Car of the Year’ at the 2014 Car Dealer Power awards. The i10 beat off tough competition including the Skoda Octavia and the Ford Fiesta ST. The dealers praised the i10 for its looks, build quality, value for money, refinement and industry-leading five-year unlimited mileage warranty. James Batchelor, editor of Car Dealer magazine, said “I am absolutely delighted to name the outstanding Hyundai i10 as Car of the Year in our annual Car Dealer Power awards. Hundreds of UK dealers took part in this year’s survey which makes it the most comprehensive of its kind in the industry. Hyundai should take great comfort in knowing that this award has been voted for by dealer partners right across the UK regardless of which franchise they represent.”

Tony Whitehorn, Hyundai said “the New Generation i10 is a hugely significant model for our business and it plays a substantial role in the hotly contested city car segment in the UK. i10 has been Hyundai UK’s best-seller since 2009, and New Generation i10 continues this trend.  We have sold 12,170 units of the New Generation i10 since launch in January of this year and we are delighted that it, not only appeals to existing customers, but is also bringing some new customers to our brand.  We can only thank our fantastic dealer network for getting behind the new model and for helping us to live up to our customers’ expectations.”

The nippy little city car is priced from just £8595, it is capable  of 0-62mph in just 12.8 seconds and can reach a top speed of 102mph so it is great around town and can keep up on the motorway. The Hyundai i10 has always been one of Hyundai’s top selling models, last year Hyundai brought out the sub 100g/km Blue model. The special eco edition of the Hyundai i10 emits an astonishingly low 99g/km CO2, so it gains exemption from VED and the London Congestion Charge.

Despite the bargain price, the Hyundai i10 is actually one of the sweetest-driving city cars there is. It has an impressive balance of ride comfort and cornering ability, which makes it feel very grown-up compared with most rivals. The i10 is also impressively practical for a city car, with decent space for four adults, great access to the cabin and a reasonable boot that can be extended by folding the rear seats.”
