New i10 Overview
The New Hyundai i10 is inspired by a world that “demands stylish, simple but clever products”, its manufacturer says. This 5-door hatchback must compete in the city class market which includes a range of capable vehicles.
Hyundai claims the styling is “effortlessly good looking, energetic and grown up”. It incorporates a fairly flat nose with a prominent grille that – in top of the range form – complement LED lights. The vehicle's sides have large plastic door protectors and sharp creases close to the handles. Its rear bumper is shapely and houses deep-set reflectors.
New i10 exterior colours include: Sleek Silver Metallic, Morning Blue Solid, Polar White Solid, Stardust Grey Metallic, Aqua Sparkling Metallic and Mandarin Orange Pearl.
The i10 has a simple choice of engines. Its 1.0-litre, 66PS, petrol is teamed with 5-speed manual transmission and averages 60.1mpg. The 1.2-litre 87PS petrol can be bolted to manual or 4-speed auto transmission and averages 57.6mpg and 45.6mpg, respectively.
New Generation i10 trims are: S, S Air, SE, SE Blue Drive and Premium. The SE Blue Drive enables the 1.0-litre petrol engine to be more efficient so it averages 65.7mpg. The improvement comes via a start/stop system that switches off the engine while the car is stationary. It restarts almost instantly when the motorist presses the clutch.
The i10's clever use of space ensures it has the “best in class head and legroom”. Cargo capacity is a class competitive 252-litres rising to 1,046-litres with the rear seats folded.
Clever safety features include the brake assist system that – in the event of an emergency – provides extra power to reduce the stopping distance. Anti-lock brakes minimise skidding. The i10 also has front, side and curtain airbags plus a seatbelt reminder system. Its stability programme brakes wheels individually if they lose grip.
Clever internal equipment includes cruise control to maintain a constant speed, a tyre pressure monitoring system to warn the motorist that a tyre might be punctured, Bluetooth to connect to external devices, and hill-start assist to stop it rolling backwards.
The New i10 lives-up to its manufacturer's claims. It is stylish, simple and clever. Prices range from £8,595 - £11,265 on the road including a 5 year, unlimited mileage, warranty.
